Music & Choir

All our students enjoy quality music education by a dedicated music teacher

Both class and individual music lessons take place during school hours in the music room. Our students participate in local and international music exams, such as UNISA and Royal Schools of Music.

Music

We have a very strong music department at our school. The learners are taken out of class once a week. These learners have the opportunity to play piano, guitar, violin and recorder. We have learners from the music department taking part in assemblies.

Choir

Kommetjie Primary School has a wonderful choir that sings at all events. There is a Foundation Phase Choir and a Senior Choir. They practise twice a week in the morning. On alternative years Kommetjie Primary hosts a Choir Festival where the schools in our District celebrate the musical abilities of the children in Southern Cape Town. They sing at our Arts and Culture evenings and are very involved in the musicals produced at the school.

Jeremy Loops and Alice Phoebe Lou are examples of our alumni who have continued to pursue music and became stars in the local and international music scene.

The School Song

The lighthouse every single night
Shines far and clear and very bright
It shows the sailors where they are
Too near the rocks or out too far
So let God’s light show us the way
Not just at night, but everyday

SIC LUCEAT LUX

Matrose in die nag so swart
Kyk na die lig met blye hart
Al is hul ver van land en huis
En hoor die wilde branders bruis
Weet hul dat Gods groter lig
Hul na ‘n veilige hawe rig
