The Farm
Growing food, minds and communities.
We are the first school in Cape Town to participate in the permaculture Neighbourhood Farm School Project – an exciting initiative whereby organic vegetables are grown. The farm is situated at the far end of our school fields.
Neighbourhood Farm, with funding received from the Western Cape Premier’s office and the Department of Agriculture for its South Peninsula Pilot Project, is a registered NPO (Not for Profit Organization) whose primary focus is to grow food, minds and community by nurturing children and neighbours so that they become advocates for change. Kommetjie Primary was the first school to embrace the concept of a neighbourhood farm.
Where applicable, KPS uses the Farm to help demonstrate real examples of the lessons they are learning in subjects like NST.
